Get Jaggie with it reprise
Question: How did the street called Jaggie Fox Way get it’s name?
The Mystery is solved and is noted below.
The Jaggie Fox name was derived from Mrs. Jaggie and Mrs. Fox who are sisters and there maiden name was Burke. The property where the initial Jaggie Fox Way is located (South side of Sandersville Road) was split up. That property was developed by another group and the sisters were involved by virtue of putting the land up as collateral for the developer to finance the improvements. The streets had to be named and the main entrance was named by combining the sisters last names Jaggie Fox.

Craig Schuster
Answer: First some background on how streets are named. This comes from city planning office. Developers name most streets. An addressing committee reviews the names to make sure they are not duplicates, obscene, ridiculous, etc. It it fits the city’s criteria, the name will stick. Usually a developer will submit a group of twenty or so names for review before construction begins in an attempt to reserve their favorites. If for whatever reason, people want to change the name of their street (too complicated to spell or too weird to pronounce) two-thirds of unique property owners can submit a new name for review. Unique owner means that if one person owns several lots in an area, they only get one vote. This keeps one person from dominating the re-naming process.

My mother was a public school librarian. I earned a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Kentucky. The Herald-Leader hired me as a news assistant 25 years ago; soon after, I moved to the news research department, where I’ve been ever since. We used to clip newspapers. Now, almost all of our research is online. We've come a long way.
Imagine my surprise at seeing our family history on the Herald-Leader website during my daily morning read!
