Clays Mill Road construction
Whatever happened to the Clays Mill Road widening? I thought it was to start in 2006.
Clays Mill Road has produced much public discussion over very many years involving the city, the state and the neighborhood. Finally, the money is in place, the design is complete and construction will begin soon. Max Conyers, transportation planning manager for LFUCG, said that utility lines are already being moved and acquiring right-of-ways has begun. Construction will begin on the portion of Clays Mill Road from New Circle Road to Higbee Mill Road (which is just inside Man o’ War Boulevard) as soon as the weather warms. $7.950 million has been allocated to modify the road, which includes adding turn lanes, improving the sidewalks and widening the road to three lanes.

My mother was a public school librarian. I earned a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Kentucky. The Herald-Leader hired me as a news assistant 25 years ago; soon after, I moved to the news research department, where I’ve been ever since. We used to clip newspapers. Now, almost all of our research is online. We've come a long way.
