Man o’ War development
As I travel down Man o’ War Boulevard from Tates Creek Road toward Nicholasville Road, I notice they are moving dirt, staking out land and perhaps getting ready to put in infrastructure on the left (just past Waterford/Clearwater Way). What is planned for this land? Are they getting ready to build more houses?
According to Jimmy Emmons, senior planner for the Lexington Planning Commission, that development was the Mahan family farm. The area is 142 acres and is zoned for R-3 development. R-3 is a mixed residential zoning that includes single family homes, duplexes, apartments and townhomes. Ball Homes has developed the first two phases of the development. When development is complete, four roads will connect into the neighborhood: Victoria Way, Ridgewater Drive, Manitoba Lane and Elora Lane. For more information on R-3 zoning, go to the Lexington-Fayette County Government Ordinances.– Lu-Ann

My mother was a public school librarian. I earned a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Kentucky. The Herald-Leader hired me as a news assistant 25 years ago; soon after, I moved to the news research department, where I’ve been ever since. We used to clip newspapers. Now, almost all of our research is online. We've come a long way.
