Funky building at 260 W. Vine
Posted on December 13, 2007 by LuAnn Farrar
What’s the story about the odd-looking new building on the southeast
corner of Vine and Mill?
The building houses the U.S. Attorney’s office. It was built by JDL Lexington, a real estate company based in Winston-Salem, NC. They lease the building to the federal government. As to its “odd-looking” appearance, David Shannon of JDL, said the building was built “with today’s security requirements in mind.”

My mother was a public school librarian. I earned a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Kentucky. The Herald-Leader hired me as a news assistant 25 years ago; soon after, I moved to the news research department, where I’ve been ever since. We used to clip newspapers. Now, almost all of our research is online. We've come a long way.
